About the work
In hildensaga. ein königinnendrama, Ferdinand Schmalz retells the Nibelungen legend from the perspectives of Brünhild and Kriemhild. After Brünhild is forced through deception and violence into marriage with Gunther, Kriemhild recognises the injustice and the two women join forces against the male-dominated order shaping their fates. The play premiered at the Nibelungen-Festspiele in Worms in 2022.
