Community guidelines
Stageify's public directory — the free index of amateur and community theatre described in About Stageify — stays useful by staying focused. These are the rules for what belongs in it and how we expect people to use it.
Organisations
Stageify helps theatre enthusiasts find where they can audition and play. So we list organisations where amateurs perform in the organisation's own productions, where someone from outside can get on stage by auditioning, joining or enrolling, and whose performances anyone can come and see. Societies, youth-theatre and musical schools open to everyone, project groups, open-air and regional theatre all fit. Not a fit: fully professional casts, venues and festivals that stage nothing of their own, and closed school productions that only cast their own pupils and play for their own pupils, parents and staff.
Productions
Stageify helps theatre enthusiasts find performances they can attend. So we list productions performed (mostly) by amateurs, where anyone can buy a ticket. Not a fit: fully professional productions and closed performances that aren't open to everyone.
Works
Stageify helps theatre enthusiasts discover plays and musicals they could perform. So we list works that stand on their own, independent of who stages them — a script or score other companies could also perform, whether it's licensed (through a rights holder like MTI or Concord Theatricals) or royalty-free, like a classic. Not a fit: a company's own original piece, written and performed only by that company — that belongs to their production, not to a work.
Submitting and suggesting
Found something missing? Use "Submit a missing listing" on the groups or works page. Found something wrong on an existing listing? Use "Suggest an improvement" on that listing's own page. Either way, a person reviews it before anything is published or changed — nothing goes live automatically.
Be accurate and respectful
Submissions and suggestions should be accurate, civil, and about theatre. We remove spam, harassment, and content unrelated to amateur and community theatre, and we may decline a submission that doesn't fit the criteria above.
Rights holders
If you're a rights holder, or you represent a listed organisation, production, or work, and you'd rather not appear here, see Rights & attribution and Request removal.
