About the work

Die Zauberflöte is a German-language opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with a libretto generally attributed to Emanuel Schikaneder. Its fairy-tale story follows Prince Tamino and the bird-catcher Papageno through a world involving Pamina, the Queen of the Night and Sarastro, with trials centred on love, wisdom and the contrast between darkness and light.
