About the work

Die Präsidentinnen is a play by Austrian writer Werner Schwab, first performed in 1990. In a domestic kitchen, Erna, Grete and Mariedl conduct an increasingly harsh conversation in which petit-bourgeois aspirations, religion, sexuality and social humiliation collide. The play belongs to Schwab's so-called Fäkaliendramen and is marked by his grotesque, idiosyncratic language.
