About this production
Lace Market Theatre stages Leonard Gershe's Butterflies Are Free from 11 to 16 January 2027 in Nottingham. Directed by Ali Lit, the production is set in New York and centres on Don Baker, a blind young man building an independent life away from his protective mother.
Auditions are open
Open auditions take place on 15 and 17 September 2026 at 19:30. The audition process is open to everyone, including non-members; anyone taking part in the production and rehearsals must become a member. Actors of all genders may audition for all four roles. Auditionees for Don are asked to prepare a verse or two to sing, with an acoustic guitar available if needed.
