About the work
Alban Berg's opera Wozzeck follows an ordinary soldier who is progressively destabilised by poverty, humiliation and psychological pressure. Based on Georg Büchner's unfinished play Woyzeck, the work combines its social tragedy with an expressive, largely atonal musical language.
