Original work: Compton Mackenzie
Adaptation: James Scotland
Set in the Hebrides during the Second World War, Whisky Galore follows the island communities of Great Todday and Little Todday after wartime rationing leaves them without whisky. When the Cabinet Minister runs aground nearby carrying a large cargo of whisky, the islanders’ efforts to salvage it bring them into conflict with the local Home Guard commander. James Scotland’s stage version adapts Compton Mackenzie’s novel for an ensemble comedy.
