About the work

A surrealist play by Roger Vitrac, first staged in 1928. On his ninth birthday, Victor destabilises the bourgeois adult world around him through sharp observations and provocation. The play combines black comedy, family drama and absurdism and is regarded as an important work of French surrealist theatre.
