About the work

Venedig im Schnee (Venise sous la neige) is a comedy by Gilles Dyrek. During a dinner between two couples, Patricia’s deliberate silence is mistaken for an inability to speak her hosts’ language; she exploits the misunderstanding, invents a language and a country ravaged by war, and pushes their generosity ever further. The play combines relationship comedy with satire of prejudice, self-image, and ostentatious benevolence.
