About the work

The Black Rider: The Casting of the Magic Bullets is a dark musical fable about Wilhelm, a clerk who wants to marry Kätchen but must first prove himself as a marksman. The devilish Pegleg offers him magic bullets that never miss, at a fatal price. Robert Wilson, Tom Waits and William S. Burroughs based the work on the German Freischütz legend.
