About the work
Inspired by real events, Surprise parti is a political comedy by Faustine Noguès about punk comedian Jón Gnarr’s election as mayor of Reykjavík in 2010. A satirical campaign conceived as a prank propels a group of artists into control of the Icelandic capital, while the play uses the conventions of political debate and stand-up comedy.
