About the work

Inspired by three stories by Chekhov, Requiem follows a coffin maker who loses his wife, a young mother confronting the death of her child, and a grieving coachman whose only confidant is his horse. Hanoch Levin blends gravity, black humour and poetry in a play about grief, solitude and mortality.
