About the work
Red Red Shoes is a dance drama by Charles Way for young audiences. Franvera receives a pair of red dancing shoes for her birthday as her country descends into war and ethnic cleansing. The shoes become both a connection to her former life and a symbol of the trauma she carries while fleeing toward safety.
The play combines drama, dance and movement to explore displacement, hatred, survival and the effects of war on a child.
