About the work

R.U.R. is a science-fiction play by Karel Čapek from 1920, first performed in 1921. In a factory, artificial workers are manufactured to replace human labour; when the robots revolt, the conflict escalates into a threat to humanity. The play introduced the word “robot” into international culture.
