About the work
In Oscar en zijn Moeder, Oscar tries to break free from his mother, who has lived with him since his father's death. Their suffocating dependency escalates through sharp, cynical dialogue, physical confrontation and emotional conflict. Jibbe Willems's short tragicomedy explores family bonds, ageing, guilt, and the boundary between care and suffocation.
