About the work

Moony's Kid Don't Cry is a short play by Tennessee Williams about Moony, his wife Jane and their child in an impoverished urban household. Moony longs for the freer life he left behind, while Jane confronts him with the immediate responsibility of caring for their family.

The play explores longing, poverty and the conflict between escape and responsibility. Its stage version premiered in Nantucket in 1946.
