Written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman, based on the myths of Ovid and on David R. Slavitt’s translation of The Metamorphoses of Ovid.
Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses is a stage adaptation of stories from Ovid’s epic poem, drawing on David R. Slavitt’s translation. The ensemble play moves between ancient myth and contemporary language as figures including Midas, Orpheus and Eurydice, Eros and Psyche, and Baucis and Philemon encounter transformations shaped by love, loss, desire and memory.
