About the work
Little Shop of Horrors is a musical comedy about Seymour Krelborn, a flower-shop assistant who discovers a mysterious plant and names it Audrey II. The plant brings him success, but it requires blood and eventually becomes an escalating threat.
The book and lyrics are by Howard Ashman and the music is by Alan Menken. The original Off-Broadway version premiered in 1982.
