About the work
Les Justes is a play by Albert Camus about a group of revolutionaries preparing an assassination of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich in 1905. Its characters confront the tension between political ideals and the moral limits of violence.
The play premiered in 1949 at the Théâtre Hébertot in Paris. Camus based it on historical events involving Russian Socialist-Revolutionaries.
