About the work
Paris, July 1815. After Waterloo and Napoleon’s abdication, Talleyrand invites Fouché to supper to decide what form of government should rule France. The two men despise one another and disagree profoundly, yet they must negotiate together in a verbal duel shaped by political strategy, ambition and memories of their compromises.
