About the work
After her husband's death, Bernarda Alba imposes years of mourning and strict seclusion on her five daughters. Inside the house, obedience, desire, jealousy and social reputation collide as several daughters become entangled with the same unseen suitor, Pepe el Romano. The drama explores repression, conformity, family honour and the cost of enforced silence.
