About the work
L'Invitation au château is a five-act comedy by Jean Anouilh. At a country château, Horace sets a scheme in motion involving his twin brother Frédéric, the wealthy Diana and the young Isabelle, whom he introduces as a diversion. The intrigue plays with class differences, love and manipulation. The play premiered on 5 November 1947 at the Théâtre de l'Atelier in Paris, directed by André Barsacq.
