About the work
Manuel Puig’s stage adaptation of his novel follows Molina and Valentín, two prisoners sharing a cell in Argentina. Their opposing outlooks gradually give way to a close bond as Molina recounts films and the pressures surrounding their imprisonment intensify. Allan Baker’s English translation was first performed at London’s Bush Theatre in 1985.
