About the work
Bartholomäus and Kümmel are friends who live in two boxes, but they repeatedly quarrel over whose box is bigger, prettier or better. When a marching musician appears and turns them against one another, they discover how easily jealousy and manipulation can threaten their friendship. Paul Maar's children's play combines clowning with themes of friendship, possession, temptation and reconciliation.
