Kalldewey, Farce
Play text: Botho Strauß
About the work
In Botho Strauß’s farce, Lynn and Hans try to separate from each other, but instead become caught up in an increasingly absurd sequence of violence, reunions and group therapy. The enigmatic Kalldewey appears without warning and disappears just as suddenly, while the play satirically dissects bourgeois relationships, therapy culture and society’s promises of salvation. Kalldewey, Farce premiered at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg in 1982.
