About the work
The play, based on Michael Ende's children's novel, follows the adventures of Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver. When their tiny home island of Lummerland becomes too crowded, Jim, Luke and the locomotive Emma set out on a journey that takes them through Mandala to the Dragon City, where they try to rescue Princess Li Si from Mrs Grindtooth. The first theatre production took place in 1970 at Theater für Kinder Hamburg.
