About the work

Il turco in Italia is a two-act opera buffa by Gioachino Rossini to a libretto by Felice Romani. First performed at La Scala in Milan in 1814, it follows the poet Prosdocimo as he turns the romantic complications surrounding Fiorilla, her husband Geronio, the Turkish prince Selim and Zaida into material for a comedy.
