About the work

In hildensaga. ein königinnendrama, Ferdinand Schmalz retells the Nibelung saga from the perspectives of Brünhild and Kriemhild. After Brünhild is forced into marriage with Gunther through deception and violence, Kriemhild recognises the injustice, and the two women join forces against the male-dominated order that determines their fate. The play premiered in 2022 at the Nibelungen Festival in Worms.
