About the work

Het gebroken licht van troost is a one-act play by Aris Bremer about dementia and its impact on a family. Maarten de Bok is increasingly losing his grip on everyday life, and his wife and daughter-in-law realize that caring for him at home may no longer be sustainable. When his daughter visits and initially denies the seriousness of his condition, Maarten’s birthday forces the family to confront what is happening.
