About the work
In this comic chamber-of-rhetoric tale, a poor man receives a miraculous apple tree that traps anyone who tries to take its fruit without permission. Herman Teirlinck made a modern Dutch prose adaptation of the late-medieval play in 1938; that version was subsequently performed by a range of professional and amateur companies.
