About the work

In Manfred Bogner's Bavarian rural farce, Hedwig and her husband Gustl run the inn Zum Semmelknödel. When a restaurant inspector is expected, Gustl decides that a woman cannot front the kitchen and presents his inexperienced friend Dammerl as the chef instead. The deception, visiting officials and assorted guests soon turn the restaurant into escalating chaos.
