About the work

Thomas Birkmeir’s youth-theatre adaptation of the Nibelungenlied gives Kriemhild and Brünnhilde a forceful voice in the familiar story of Siegfried, Gunther, Hagen and the Nibelung treasure. Their unborn sons watch and comment as heroism, power, political marriage and betrayal lead to a violent confrontation at Etzel’s court.
