About the work
Die Dreigroschenoper is a play with music by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, created in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann and based on John Gay's The Beggar's Opera. It premiered in Berlin in 1928 and centres on Macheath, Polly Peachum and the Peachums in London's underworld.
