In Dem Himmel sei Dank, a parish urgently needs money to renovate its church. Father Alfons turns to unconventional sources of income and eventually rents out rooms in the rectory; when a strict cathedral canon arrives to investigate and additional guests trigger a series of mistaken identities, the situation increasingly spins out of control.
