In De dochter van de boevenkoning, Doekje grows up in a kingdom where deceit, bribery and corruption are normal. Although she is the daughter of the criminal king and queen, she is kind and conscientious. When she discovers what has happened to her family and what her own fate may be, she resists her parents and the world they represent.
