About the work
Set in 1954 Baltimore, Cry-Baby follows Allison Vernon-Williams, a young woman from the conservative “Squares” who falls for Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker, leader of the rebellious “Drapes”. The musical uses rockabilly-inflected comedy and satire to turn their romance into a clash between conformity and teenage rebellion.
