About the work

Crankybox is a play by Judith Herzberg in which characters in a room continually change partners and positions. Its short scenes form a carousel of approaches, rejections and absent lovers, with a deliberately cartoon-like performance style. Herzberg wrote an earlier television version in 1976; the text was revised in 1977.
