About the work
Aluta is a Latin farce by Georgius Macropedius about Aluta, a peasant woman from Bunschoten who is cheated out of her goods at the market in Utrecht by two rogues and later, after visiting an inn, also loses her clothes. The play combines deception, drunkenness and mistaken identity in the tradition of sixteenth-century school drama.
