About the work

All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 is a musical-theatre work about the spontaneous Christmas Truce on the Western Front in 1914. Drawing on soldiers’ letters, diaries, recollections and period songs, it follows men from opposing armies as they briefly leave their trenches, exchange greetings and sing together before the war resumes.
