About the work
Abdallah, eller Gazellen fra Bassora is a three-act ballet by Danish choreographer August Bournonville, set to music by Holger Simon Paulli. It premiered at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen in 1855 and tells an Orientalist fairy tale about the shoemaker Abdallah and the dancer Irma, the ‘Gazelle of Basra’.
