About the work

A Maldição do Vale Negro is a Brazilian play by Caio Fernando Abreu and Luiz Arthur Nunes. It parodies classical melodrama through a cursed aristocratic family, secrets, romantic entanglements and deliberately heightened theatrical archetypes. The original stage version was performed in Porto Alegre in 1986.
