About the work
A Kind of Alaska is a one-act play by Harold Pinter about Deborah, who fell into a prolonged unconscious state after contracting sleeping sickness at sixteen and awakens almost thirty years later. Still experiencing herself as a young girl, she tries to understand the changed world and the history of her family. The play premiered at London's Cottesloe Theatre in 1982.
