About this production
The Barn Players stages Green Day's American Idiot as part of its 2027 season. The rock musical, with music by Green Day and a book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, is directed by Daniel Vazquez, with music direction by Scott Salem and choreography by Tyler Rene Harper. Performances are scheduled at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center Black Box in Overland Park.
Auditions are open
Auditions are scheduled for September 27, 2026, from 1:00–5:00 PM at Prairie Baptist Church in Prairie Village, Kansas. Performers must be 18 or older by the first rehearsal. Auditioners should complete the online audition form and prepare a 60–90 second contemporary rock or show-style song; applicants unable to attend in person may submit a video by September 26 at 11:59 PM. Callbacks are by invitation on October 4.
