Speelgroep Gelre speelde in 1979 John Patricks komedie The Curious Savage onder de Nederlandse titel Dwaasheid heeft zijn eigen recht. Het stuk draait om een vermogende weduwe die door haar stiefkinderen in een inrichting wordt geplaatst en daar onverwachte bondgenoten vindt.
