The Watsons
About this production
The Watsons is a play by Laura Wade, staged by Dublin Youth Theatre at Smock Alley's Main Space in August 2026. It follows Emma, cut off by her wealthy aunt and returned to her sisters and the family home, where the Watson sisters must marry quickly or face poverty. Based on an unfinished Jane Austen novel, the play asks who gets to write the heroine's story once her author has left it incomplete.
The production was directed by Eadaoin Fox, with set and costume design by Chrysi Chatzivasileiou, lighting by Kevin Murphy and choreography by Nora Ní Anluain Fay. One performance was Irish Sign Language interpreted and one was a relaxed performance.
