Blackpool Grand Young Company stages Icebreakers, a new musical by Joseph Hancock and Tarek Merchant, as its 2027 National Theatre Connections Festival project. The story follows a high-school musical theatre society challenged to create its own show about climate change.
Open audition workshops are on 13 and 20 October 2026 from 18:00 to 19:30 at Blackpool Grand Theatre Studio. Applications are open to young people aged 14–19 and no previous experience is required. Applications close at 17:00 on 7 October 2026. The programme runs from October 2026 to April 2027; the participation fee is £250 and bursary places are available.
