Bel Canto Oostzaan speelde in 1983 Jacques Offenbachs operette La Périchole, op tekst van Henri Meilhac en Ludovic Halévy, in de Nederlandse vertaling van Joop C.G. Fransen. De operette volgt een Peruaanse straatzangeres die uit armoede in de omgeving van de onderkoning belandt, zonder haar trouw aan Piquillo op te geven.
