Bel Canto Oostzaan bracht in 1996 Johann Strauss jr.'s operette Eine Nacht in Venedig, op tekst van F. Zell en Richard Genée en in een Nederlandse vertaling van Joop Fransen. Tijdens het Venetiaanse carnaval leiden een hertog, een senator en hun geliefden tot een keten van persoonsverwisselingen en romantische intriges.
