Bel Canto Oostzaan speelde in 1984 de operette Der Bettelstudent van Carl Millöcker, op tekst van F. Zell (Camillo Walzel) en Richard Genée, in de Nederlandse vertaling van Joop C.G. Fransen. Kolonel Ollendorf zet uit wraak een arme student in als vermeende miljonair om gravin Laura Nowalska te misleiden.
