Bel Canto Oostzaan speelde in 1982 de operette Boccaccio van Franz von Suppé, op libretto van F. Zell (Camillo Walzel) en Richard Genée, in de Nederlandse vertaling van Gerard Knoppers. Het verhaal verwerkt komische episodes uit Boccaccio’s Decamerone en draait uiteindelijk om Boccaccio en Fiametta.
